Belly Floppin' with Mal and Chad!

What better way to celebrate the latest Mal & Chad graphic novel shipping to my address then by entering a contest to win more Mal & Chad stuff?

Mal & Chad author Stephen McCranie, as a fun way to promote "Belly Flop!", the latest Mal & Chad adventure, is giving away prizes for making a splash with Mal & Chad. So my way to make a splash was to break out Adobe Illustrator and flop M&C's happy mugs onto the bellies of a couple t-shirt shapes to simulate what I think would be some pretty cool M&C swag.

If you aren't familiar with Mal & Chad or Stephen you need to check out his M&C website as well as his inspirational picture blog about sustainable creativity, Doodle Alley. Also, all three Mal & Chad books would make great Christmas and holiday gifts for the kids or anyone who appreciates a fun, well told story of a boy and his dog.

The False Dichotomy of Naughty or Nice

Santa is a smart guy. I mean, he has to understand that the Naughty/Nice paradigm is a false dichotomy, right? It's more like a continuum of various behavioral attributes displaying differing levels of acceptability as they pertain to social mores and taboos...yeah, you're right, I'm totally getting coal again this year.

Check out my latest CafePress t-shirt design that addresses the subject.

Calling All Alums!

CafePress seems to be pushing their luck with this Cyber-*Day thing but I'm gonna play along. I'm sure you know somebody who attended the School of Hard Knocks. Why not get them a shirt so they can show their school spirit!

My new Saint Tweet Avatar

This is my new @Saint_Tweet logo/avatar for Twitter. I'm not completely happy with it but I like it better than my previous one that looked like this:

I was thinking about how I wanted to make the halo rounder and maybe just show the bird's head on this one when lo and behold one of my favored artist persons, Rory Phillips of Go Go Picnic posted pictures of a bird house he painted with exactly the kind of image I was trying to imagine but couldn't.

So I must say it took all my will power not to just highjack the image, which would be wrong, and make it my avatar. Which as I've just mentioned, and taking into consideration that the @saint_tweet account is dedicated to highlighting virtuous and pious individuals, would be very wrong. So I used it as a reference and hope that one day I can afford to commission Mr. Phillips to make a Saint Tweet avatar.

A Few More Kawaii-ish Things

Just some relatively quick doodles I did in Adobe Illustrator over the last week or so.

Why do they always ask that?
